It's been a while since I have done a mock draft, so here is a two rounder for you. The order is based on "if the draft was held today" for non playoff teams and my power rankings for the playoff teams. 

1. Indianapolis Colts - QB Andrew Luck, Stanford. Luck to the Colts has been discussed ad nauseam recently. I won't go into it any further. The fact is that Luck will be the number one pick, whether the Colts take him or trade the pick.

If they trade the pick: They could go with pretty much anyone, as this team is old and could use youth everywhere. But if they do decide to trade the pick that means they are going to ride Peyton Manning for a couple years. So Matt Kalil would be the best option, as he can try to protect Manning's blind side. He hasn't had a security guard who is any good since Tarik Glenn retired.

2. Carolina Panthers - WR Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma St. Since the Panthers like to throw the ball 700 times per game instead of pounding the run with two pretty good backs and a nice offensive line even when they have big leads (that brilliant strategy has led them to a 2-8 record by the way) I will mock them a receiver here. How good would Cam Newton be if he had a stud like Blackmon playing opposite Steve Smith?

3. St. Louis Rams - OT Matt Kalil, USC. I would love to see the Rams somehow go with Justin Blackmon if he is available. It would be nice to see Sam Bradford with a couple good receivers to throw to. But he is off the board here. And I have a feeling management will go with the tackle. It is probably the biggest need. Sam Bradford looks terrified out there, reminds me of a young David Carr on the Texans. He played behind a line so bad that it pretty much ruined his career before it even got started. Roger Saffold has been terrible this year and Jason Smith hasn't been much better. Kalil would (hope to) fortify the left side of the line and keep Bradford from getting killed.

4. Minnesota Vikings - CB Morris Claiborne, LSU. I really don't know what direction the Vikings will go here. Alshon Jeffery is a possibility, but his production has been so down at South Carolina, and that can't fully be blamed on the quarterback situation. I don't think Jonathan Martin is worth a pick this high. So they go with the second LSU cornerback to be taken in the top five in two years. Claiborne is a stud and has everything you would want in a cornerback.

5. Washington Redskins - QB Matt Barkley, USC. If Rex Grossman didn't have a ten cent brain he would be a pretty good starter in this league. He makes some amazing throws, such as a perfect touchdown pass to Dante Stallworth last Sunday. But he is what he is at this point, the leader of the "F*ck It, I'm Going Deep" fan club. The Redskins need to come out of this draft with a new quarterback, and they have their choice of guys here.


6. Jacksonville Jaguars - DE Quinton Coples, North Carolina. It seems the Jaguars have been looking for pass rushing help since the team came into existence. Coples stats don't jump out at you, but he is playing on a deep and talented defense. He has the size and skills package to be the top defensive lineman in this class.

7. Arizona Cardinals - OT Jonathan Martin, Stanford. I don't know if Martin would be a great left tackle in the NFL, but even on the right side, he would instantly be the Cardinals best offensive lineman. Kevin Kolb and whoever else is in there has been getting destroyed this year.

8. Miami Dolphins - QB Robert Griffin, Baylor. As a Dolphins fan, seeing them play so well is a gift and a curse. First of all, I can't root for my team to lose, so to see them throttle three straight teams is something I am not used to. Matt Moore looks really good. But on the other hand, they are playing themselves out of being able to select one of the four stud quarterbacks in this draft by winning meaningless games. I take solace in the fact that they have beaten three bad teams, and shouldn't run off another 6 wins. Anyways, I think the owner would definitely roll with Griffin. He is seeing the buzz that Cam Newton has generated for the Panthers and wants that same type of atmosphere on his team. Griffin is playing his way into consideration for the second overall pick, and fast. The legend continues to grow after he destroyed the big brothers of the state, the Sooners.

9. Philadelphia Eagles - MLB Vontaze Burfict, Arizona St. I still think Burfict is the best of the three first round middle linebacker prospects. He has a mean streak and the size and strength to be a stud middle linebacker. The Eagles defense has no edge right now and needs someone who can take charge and knock someone's head off.

10. Cleveland Browns - RB Trent Richardson, Alabama. I would love to see the Browns take a chance for once in the draft and add a special talent. I was one of the few people who didn't like the trade they made last year, I thought Julio Jones would have been a great addition. Peyton Hillis has predictably fallen off after last season and probably won't be back. Running backs are often taken low, but when someone as complete as Richardson comes along, teams use top ten picks on him. He would be the centerpiece of Cleveland's attack and an every down back.

11. Kansas City Chiefs - QB Landry Jones, Oklahoma. What a strange season the Chiefs are having. Matt Cassel has probably (hopefully for Chiefs fans) played his last game in Kansas City. The team needs a new quarterback in the worst way. I can't remember this team ever spending a first round pick on a signal caller. That's probably why you can't think of a "great" Chiefs quarterback.

12. Seattle Seahawks - CB Dre Kirkpatrick, Alabama. Kirkpatrick is a reach here, but not so much considering this team took James Carpenter in the first round a year ago. He has great size to match up with the big number one receivers in the NFC like Larry Fitzgerald and Greg Jennings. The Seahawks can't go into next season with the no names they have in the secondary.

13. San Diego Chargers - WR Alshon Jeffery, South Carolina. Receiver is not the biggest need in San Diego, but Jeffery is too good to pass up on here. I think when combine time rolls around he will be a top ten pick again. The Chargers love big, physical receivers. No one will be able to cover Vincent Jackson and Jeffery, both of who are close to 6'5. The question is will AJ Smith still be around to make this pick?

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - MLB Manti Te'o, Notre Dame. The Bucs are a long way from rebuilding their defense to what they had earlier this century. Te'o would be a great pick and give the Bucs a new leader for their defense. He is built like a tank but still has the speed to get to the sideline in a 4-3 defense.

15. Tennessee Titans - OLB Zach Brown, North Carolina. Akeem Ayers has been a good find on one side, but the rest of the linebacker group is still a mess. I think Zach Brown has more potential then Luke Kuechly, so he is the pick. Brown is by far the best 4-3 outside linebacker prospect in the draft.


16. New York Jets - DE/OLB Courtney Upshaw, Alabama. The Jets inability to get to the quarterback is one reason they have struggled so much this year. The team needs to spend more first round picks on building up the front seven on defense, and Upshaw is probably the best 3-4 outside linebacker in this class.

17. Buffalo Bills - WR Michael Floyd, Notre Dame. The Bills lack of talent is finally shining through, as the team is in a complete free fall. They seem to think Ryan Fitzpatrick is the future at the position, so they might as well try to give him some weapons. And I don't mean a backup running back taken in the top ten that they will never use.


18. Denver Broncos - RB Lamar Miller, Miami. The Broncos are one good running back away from running the wish bone. Miller has emerged as the second best running back in this class, and as a redshirt sophomore, does not have much wear and tear on his tires. The Broncos could draft him to undo one of Josh McDaniels many mistakes in taking Knowshon Moreno in the top 15 a few years ago.


19. Cleveland Browns (from Atlanta Falcons) - OT Riley Reiff, Iowa. The Browns have so many needs that they can go best player available. Fortunately for them they get a steal here. I think Reiff falls a bit because he looks like a right tackle to me. That won't matter to Cleveland, who's only great player on offense plays left tackle.


20. New York Giants - MLB Luke Kuechly, Boston College. Kuechly does not have the off the charts talent level that most first round linebackers possess, but he is a monster when it comes to the tackling statistic. He is the Dennis Rodman of the tackling stat. He would be a great fit with a Giants defense in search of some leadership in the back seven.

21. Cincinnati Bengals (from Oakland Raiders) - CB Janoris Jenkins, North Alabama. Is there any chance Jenkins DOESN'T end up in Cincinnati this year? A troubled but talented cornerback, he would fit right in with the rest of the malcontents in Cincinnati. He would also be a good upgrade over aging starter Nate Clements.

22. Cincinnati Bengals -RB Montee Ball, Wisconsin. Reach? Perhaps. But I would love for the Bengals to continue to add young talent to the offense. They have their quarterback, wide receiver and tight end of the future, so why not finally find a replacement for the plodding Cedric Benson? Ball is a good all around back who has the strength to run inside the tackles like Benson tries to do.


23. Detroit Lions - OG David DeCastro, Stanford. The Lions have been going with the best player available approach for a few years. It has paid big dividends, as this team is pretty deep with talent. They can now afford to plug certain holes, and the most glaring is along the interior of the line.

24. Dallas Cowboys - DE/OLB Whitney Mercilus, Illinois. The Cowboys should probably go with the best player available on defense. DeMarcus Ware has been a complete monster as always this year, but no other player has been able to get to the quarterback. The Cowboys use first round picks on linebackers, and no one gets to the quarterback the way Mercilus has this year in college.

25. Baltimore Ravens - OT Mike Adams, Ohio St. The Ravens have struggled to fill the giant shoes of Jonathan Ogden. They have had to resort to adding Bryant McKinnie this year. While he has been alright, he obviously is not the answer. Adams has the size to play left tackle in the pros, which would leave Michael Oher on the right side, where he is much more productive.

26. New England Patriots - CB Alfonzo Dennard, Nebraska. The Patriots have spent numerous first and second round picks on cornerbacks, but somehow their secondary gets worse and worse. New England has to start hitting on some of these draft picks, because their talent level on defense has really suffered.

27. Chicago Bears - S Mark Barron, Alabama. The safety positions have been a revolving door since Mike Brown left town. Barron has had a very good year for the Crimson Tide and has moved into first round consideration.


28. New England Patriots (from New Orleans Saints) - DT Devon Still, Penn St. Ron Brace has shown next to nothing since being drafted in the second round a few years ago. Albert Haynesworth and Gerard Warren have been even more worthless. Still would be another big body next to Vince Wilfork.

29. Pittsburgh Steelers - NT Josh Chapman, Alabama. The Steelers are great at drafting players and letting them learn for a few years before they take over a starting spot. Chapman could learn from one of the best nose tackles in the game and take over in a year or two. It's amazing how well the Steelers have drafted. Practically their whole team is home grown.

30. San Francisco 49ers - DE/OLB Brandon Jenkins, Florida St. The 49ers do not have many glaring holes that a player taken this low will immediately fill. Jenkins will add to their already impressive group of linebackers.

31. Houston Texans - OG Cordy Glenn, Georgia. The Texans may have the top offensive line in football. The only weak spot is Wade Smith, who is a free agent after the year anyways. They can plug the massive Glenn right into his spot and keep running the football at a very high level.


32. Green Bay Packers - OLB Ronnell Lewis, Oklahoma. The Packers defense has not been nearly as good as last season. Clay Matthews, in particular, has struggled with the extra attention paid to him. Lewis would give the team another pass rusher.

Round 2


33. Indianapolis Colts - DT Brandon Thompson, Clemson. Colts need talent everywhere, so they can go BPA. Thompson will attempt to do what no other player on the Colts can do, slow down the running game.

34. Carolina Panthers - DE Melvin Ingram, South Carolina. Anyone on defense except linebacker would be a good pick here. Ingram is a North Carolina boy and has the knack for making a big play.

36. St. Louis Rams - CB Jayron Hosley, Virginia Tech. Even before the Rams lost 843 cornerbacks to season ending injuries, the guys who were starting weren't very good.

37. Minnesota Vikings - WR Juron Criner, Arizona. Percy Harvin is the only guy that Christian Ponder has to throw to right now.

38. Washington Redskins - NT Alameda Ta'amu, Washington. The Skins have been searching for a nose tackle since they moved to the 3-4. Cofield is a decent player but not the type of guy you want holding down your line.

39. Jacksonville Jaguars - WR Mohamed Sanu, Rutgers. If the Jags want Blaine Gabbert to look like anything other then the worst starting quarterback in the NFL, they can start by actually giving him someone to throw to.


40. Philadelphia Eagles (from Arizona Cardinals) - OT Matt Reynolds, BYU. The offensive line has really had a tough time blocking for Michael Vick.


41. Miami Dolphins - TE Dwayne Allen, Clemson. Anthony Fasano has made a couple of nice plays this season but is more of a blocker. Allen would be a huge upgrade and give RG3 another target to throw to.

42. Philadelphia Eagles - CB Stephon Gilmore, South Carolina. When the season started I didn't think I would be mocking a cornerback to the Eagles, but Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Asante Samuel will both probably be gone.

43. Cleveland Browns - DE Devin Taylor, South Carolina. If Taylor was on another team I think he would be a first round pick. But he plays on a very deep South Carolina defensive line. The Browns have had a ton of trouble getting to the quarterback.


44. Kansas City Chiefs - C Peter Konz, Wisconsin. Casey Wiegmann is approaching 40 years old, so obviously it would be nice to find his replacement.


45. Seattle Seahawks - QB Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M. I really don't like any of the second tier quarterbacks in this draft, but the Seahawks have to address the position. Since I am not taking into account possible free agent signings, I will go with a QB.


46. San Diego Chargers - DE/OLB Vinny Curry, Marshall. Larry English has been a massive bust for the Chargers and will probably be gone.


47. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - CB Chase Minnifield, Virginia. Aqib Talib could be in jail next season, and even if not, the Bucs need more talent here.


48. Tennessee Titans - RB Chris Polk, Washington. Chris Johnson is obviously mailing it in after signing his huge contract. The Titans need to do something to send a message his way.


49. New York Jets - DE Billy Wynn, Boise St. The Jets took an end in the first round last year, but could still use more help along the line.

50. Buffalo Bills - OT Levy Adcock, Oklahoma St. The Bills need help everywhere, so they go with best player available.

51. Denver Broncos - DT Jerel Worthy, Michigan St. Worthy has talent but has not been that productive thus far.

52. Atlanta Falcons - OT Barrett Jones, Alabama. Sam Baker was a huge reach in the first round a few years ago and has predictably been a bust.


53. New York Giants - OG/OT Kelechi Osemele, Iowa St. The Giants offensive line is mediocre and getting old, and they have failed to open up any running lanes the entire year.


54. New England Patriots (from Oakland Raiders) - DE/OLB Frank Alexander, Oklahoma. The Patriots ends are veteran castoffs from other teams. Alexander can play some end and outside linebacker depending on the looks New England gives.

55. Cincinnati Bengals - OG Kevin Zeitler, Wisconsin. The Bengals took a power back in round one so they get a guy who can help them run block.


56. Detroit Lions - C Michael Brewster, Ohio St. Dominic Raiola has had a decent career but his play has really fallen off recently. The Lions use their second pick on an interior lineman.

57. Dallas Cowboys - S TJ McDonald, USC. The Cowboys have had to rely on castoffs to play the safety positions.

58. Baltimore Ravens - MLB Dont'a Hightower, Alabama. The Ravens land a steal here with Hightower, who is a natural 3-4 linebacker. Questions about his speed and injury history cause him to fall.

59. New England Patriots - WR T.Y. Hilton, Florida International. The Patriots have lacked a down the field threat since Randy Moss fell off. Hilton has the speed but is only 5'10.

60. Chicago Bears - OLB Sean Spence, Miami. An undersized but very productive outside linebacker, he would be an upgrade over Nick Roach.


61. New Orleans Saints - OLB Danny Trevathan, Kentucky. Trevathan is a tackling machine with good size and speed. The Saints can't ignore their linebacker group any longer.


62. Pittsburgh Steelers - OT Nate Potter, Boise St. Potter might have to play right tackle in the pros, but the Steelers need help all along the offensive line.


63. Houston Texans - DE Jared Crick, Nebraska. A season ending injury causes Crick to slide. He would be a good fit at end in a 3-4 defense.

64. Green Bay Packers - DE Kendall Reyes, Connecticut. The Packers have lost quite a few defensive ends recently.
